Don Koch

Don is a professional songwriter and record producer. He signed his first publishing deal in 1986 and since then, he has written 39 number one songs in the Christian radio market and has worked with some of the biggest names in Christian music. Some of his best known songs include In Christ Alone by Michael English, Mercy Said No, Adonai, Strange Way to Save the World, Mercy Came Running, Crucified With Christ and The Basics of Life.   A few of the artists he has Produced include 4-Him, Larnelle Harris, Newsong, Greg Long, Charles Billingsley, Al Denson, Dallas Holm and Matthew Ward. Don has also played keyboards on recordings for Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Fred Hammond, Rascal Flatts, Craig Morgan and others. Don has received 6 Dove Awards including Song of the Year, Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year and Inspirational Record of the year. In his early years he toured with Christian Artists Geoff Moore and Rich Mullins as a keyboard player.

Don was born in Son Jose, Costa Rica while his parents were missionaries there. After his family moved back to the United States, most of his growing-up years were spent in Miami where his father was on staff at Cutler Ridge Baptist Church. Don went to upstate New York for his first year of college at Houghton College, and then transferred to Belmont University in Nashville. It was at Belmont that Don met fellow student Steven Curtis Chapman and they began co-writing songs together. That experience eventually led to his first publishing deal with Benson Publishing Company.

Don has lived in Nashville since then with his wife, Leslie, and their three children, Tyler, Kendall and Carson.
